My Favorites

Not a nugget

Here’s a list of my favorite things. What are yours?

juicerThe Omgea Vert 350HD juicer is the holy grail of juicers. It’s a vertical masticating juicer. It juices at a low speed, which maintains healthy enzymes and reduces oxidization. That means that you get a healthier and longer lasting juice. This was my first juicer and I love it more each time I use it. I’ve made many different types of juices but my favorite is: two bunches of celery, two large cucumbers, 1-2 heads of lacinato kale, 2-4 apples, and half an inch of ginger.

julienne peelerThis Kuhn Rikon julienne vegetable peeler is amazing. There are other larger and most costly devices that can julienne vegetables but why spend the money and waste precious space in your kitchen? Use the Kuhn Rikon like a regular vegetable peeler on zucchini and carrots to make the most perfect all-vegetable spaghetti. I can’t get enough zucchini noodles, especially when they are dressed with this Vegan Pesto. Other fun tricks are using this tool on apples and other hard fruits to make fruit spaghetti. The possibilities are endless!

glass strawThese glass straws from Glass Dharma are heavy and durable and best of all they are reusable. I love using a straw to drink my juices and smoothies. Glass Dharma has a variety of sizes and styles to choose from and my personal favorite is the Beautiful Bends Ice Tea straw. I’ve had mine for almost one year and have used it everyday without any problem. Your purchase will come with a lifetime guarantee should your straw break. Photo courtesy of buygreen.com.

immersion blendeI bought my first immersion blender about a year ago and I can’t believe how much use I get out of it. It is so easy to use and the clean up is so easy that it’s just a no brainer. It is so much easier to use the immersion blender for soups, it saves you time from having to use an extra appliance, which creates more dishes and it’s safer because you aren’t handling boiling hot liquids. I also use it when I make dressing and dips. Homemade dressings can take a lot of time because they have so many ingredients, which need to be chopped or minced. Just throw your garlic cloves, herbs, and ginger root in the cup and let the immersion blender chop it for you! Sadly, I do not have a high speed blender so I also make all of my green smoothies with my immersion blender. Photo courtesy of TheKitchn.com.

More coming soon!
